Harrispollonline.com is a web based online survey and rewards system. It has operating since 1963 in conducting surveys and polls on different subject areas. It is a free to join survey site, minimum age being 13 years old.
The site is owned by the Harris Interactive group. The poll rewards system entails reward points after survey which can be used to enter sweepstakes for gift cards or donate to charities which the site has partnered up with.
The maximum gift card amount is $10. To cash the gift card online, the site requires customers to have a credit card, a source of inconvenience for those who do not own one.
Most surveys from the site aware relatively short (between five to thirty minutes), and they deal with common survey topics such as politics.

How do you make money with it?
Once the signing up process is complete, the site connects the user to polls. That way, the user will receive email invites to take surveys. The major incentive for survey takers on the site is the point rewards system at the end of each survey.
Each survey has a different value, however, survey takers are not notified from the start of this value. Only when they complete the survey do they find out how many points they will earn.
The points can then be used to enter sweepstakes for gift cards (which cannot exceed $10) from amazon.com, iTunes, iCard, restaurants and so forth. Reward points can also be redeemed for magazine subscriptions.
It is important to understand that the site does not directly provide cash for surveys.
What Are The Issues With It?
The site is legitimate and generally safe with private information (though caution should still be observed when sharing personal information), unlike other sites.
The main problem here is the money making scheme. With the chances of making any serious substantial amounts of money being slim to none, it is better you spend your time doing something else.
Another issue is getting qualified for a survey.

Also should be noted is that the 75-150 rewards point only apply to completed surveys, and this is a problem because the survey qualification rate is extremely low, and it is made worse with the low invite rate.

Some, or very small amount of survey takers on harrispollonline.com have had positive results. However, the majority are still highly dissatisfied with the payout of the site considering the amount of time they had invested in taking the surveys.
There are mixed reviews about the site. Some are positive but a large number are negative–mainly complaining about the site being a waste of time and unfruitful. Many also complain about the site’s inconsistency.

Waste of time. By making it extremely difficult to earn cash after spending large amounts of time filing out surveys, it is rather unfair to survey takers. Also, given the maximum one can win on a gift card sweepstake is only $10, it is not worth it very much.
When considering an weighing the pros and cons of the site, cons outweigh to pros. Here is why:

Cons: low invite rate, low qualification rate, no cash payout, time consuming, low rewards.

Just an FYI if anyone comes across this… it’s easy to “earn” points, and it doesn’t take too many surveys to “earn” a reward. In the first 60 days I participated I earned five $5 gift cards. Not a lot, but better than none. However, the gift cards never arrived. Harris claims 5 weeks, and it’s been four months–with no gift cards in sight. I’ve stopped wasting time on Harris surveys, since apparently it’s a scam
They used to be okay – I’ve gotten $100 of gift cards over the past few years, and you can get Amazon cards online so mailing is not a problem.
However, I think they outsourced their IT to Elbonia, so they are now totally useless. They refused to give me my last card because my birth month (a new security check) was incorrect. I finally complained to BBB about them and found they had it wrong – using the incorrect month worked. I’m not the only one with this problem. I just finished a survey and got a “you did not qualify screen.” You can check your log – but their login screen just hangs.
I’m not doing any more until they get their act together.
I think they are legit – just incompetent.
The Harris polling has become a either scam or a system run by incompetents. It induces you to participate in a survey by answering some questions for 12-20 minutes (questions that are clearly not about demographic profile) , only to be told that you do not qualify for the Aeroplan points. It was not always this way. Online complaints to Harris produce only a standard reply with no indication that they have even heard your complaint.
I have found Harris polls have gone downhill. After going to the invitation e mail to the survey I am frequently told that I do not quality even though I have not answered any questions. A recent different response was the I had already answered a survey that day (not so). To try to get through to them on line is virtually impossible as the site is deemed not safe and if uses the pre populated questions one cannot send the response. This used to be one of the best surveys and is no one of the worst.
I finally cancelled my membership after many years. Same complaint as previous member above. My birthdate was incorrect, seriously? I left $30.00 to redeem after many unanswered emails and phone calls that were to be answered in 24 hrs. Customer service does not exist.
